Hand, Finger & Wrist Fractures
Too much pressure applied on a bone can break it or result in a hairline crack. Breaks in the hand or fingers are also known as metacarpal fractures.
Symptoms
-
Intense pain
-
Swelling, bruising
-
Visibly out of place or misshapen
-
Limited mobility
Treatment
-
Immobilize bone by using a splint or cast.
Surgery helps implant fixation devices like pins or braces. Surgery may be necessary if your bones do not line up, the fracture extends into the joint, there are multiple fractures, damage to ligaments or there are loose bone fragments.
